Nuts About Sketches #326

Hello!  Today I am sharing the layout I made for the Design Team at the Nuts About Sketches blog.  New sketches and design team inspiration go up every Monday, so be sure to check them out if you love using sketches.

I usually gravitate towards to sketches that allow for a large amount of photos.  So as soon as I saw #326, I immediately knew that I wanted to use a photo template/collage for the suggested 8x10 photo in the sketch.  I used a template from Kerri Bradford and really love how easy they are to use and that I can get so many photos into a page.

All of the supplies are from my July kit from 3 Scrappy Boys.

I also have a process video for this page with some detail photos at the end and how to make the ribbon/circle embellishments.

December 2013 kit is killed!!

I am still playing catch up on my blog as far as all of the kits I have been working through.  Today I am sharing ALL five layouts I put together with the December 2013 Super Sketch Club kit from Scrapbook Generation.  For more information about these kits and my challenge I issued to myself, see this post.

Lets take a look at the contents of the kit and items I pulled to add to it:

First up are the three Super Savers.  I LOVE how fast these are to put together and am constantly amazed at how nice the pages look with only 4 sheets of pattern paper for all three pages!

And here are the two Sketch Day layouts.  I had a lot of fun incorporating little bits and pieces from my stash to help make these more of my own design in a way. I love how they turned out!

Playing Catch Up

I really need to get better about updating my blog and having this be the "home" for all of my different scrappy things.

I already blogged my finished layouts from the Super Savers portion of my May 2013 (yup, 2013...) Super Sketch Club kit from Scrapbook Generation.  Today I am going to share the last two pages from this kit.  These are the sketches that Scrapbook Generation calls Sketch Day 1 and 2.  Both pages have process videos in case you want to see a look into how I personally assemble these kits and what I add to sort of put my own stamp on these pre-designed pages.

Here's the process video:

And then the fifth and final layout for my May 2013 SSC kit:

I am so glad that I was able to pair up photos to all five layouts and get an entire kit assembled and added to my albums.

3ScrappyBoys - newsletter project

Hello!  If you are currently subscribed to the 3 Scrappy Boys newsletter, than you already saw today's layout.  If not, you can sign up HERE

When I first received my March main kit, I was a little stumped on how to use what all was in it.  I have never been a big fan of Studio Calico's papers, so I was starting to sweat when I had 6 sheets of the stuff in front of me and no creative thoughts coming forth.  SO, I ran to an online community and through out the Peep signal asking for advice on what to do or even just some suggestions based on the kit photo, found HERE

I played around for a bit and made some cards and let my mind process what all was scattered across my desk.  I discovered that the patterns were more appealing to MY eye in smaller doses.  And with that thought my mind was off on the creative brainstorming wave.

I have mentioned before that I find a TON of inspiration from other crafters and am trying to really make an effort to try new techniques or even scraplift others to learn new things.  Boy did I learn a lot on this page!

I LOVE the film strip pages that Nichol Magouirk has been posting on her blog over the last few months so I tried to incorporate those and I liked the result a lot.  I even pulled out a sheet of grey cardstock from a previous kit (December maybe?) and tried the double layer on the die cuts...LOVE!  I've taken her True Scrap classes and learned a LOT about stamping so I also did some of that - the tone on tone for the orange cardstock, and the blue.

I keep all my previous kits together in one iris container, and I was sooo glad I did because for this page, I went digging through for lost treasures I hadn't had an opportunity to use before and I found some things that really matched well - the blue cardstock, camera charm, orange polariod, grey cardstock and the ledger pattern film strip.

I even went WAY out of my comfort zone and tried some "messy" stuff.  I sanded the orange coordinates cardstock to tone down the brightness of the shade.  I used the stencil that came in the kit with some orange ink and sort of smooshed a sponge dauber into the pattern to make a little pattern peeking out from behind the film strips.  Totally learned that from youtube!  I then sprayed some Studio Calico shine mist for an extra layer with the stencil.

I loved those Tim Holtz rub-ons that came in the kit this month.  Since they were the only black element(s) on the page at that point, I colored some of the wood veener hearts with a black copic marker and the camera charm (which was from an older kit) - learned that little trick from Nicholjones911 over on youtube!

I hope this inspires you to find new techniques and skills from all those amazing scrappers online!

SSC May 2013 - Page 3 with VIDEO

I'm back today with the third and final layout that is part of the Super Savers sketches from the Super Sketch Club kit by Scrapbook Generation.  All three of the Super Savers use the same line of paper and an entire 12x12 sticker sheet.

Here's the entire layout:

I love how fast all of the Super Saver layouts are put together AND how easy it is to modify the pages to fit what I have.

SSC May 2013 - Page 1 with VIDEO

Good morning!

Today I am sharing the first double page layout from the Super Savers portion of my May 2013 Scrapbook Generation Super Sketch Club Kit.  I can't say enough great things about these kits.

In yesterday's post, I shared the video where I explained my process.  Prior to putting this kit together, I sat down with the sketches and sample pictures and went through my photos on the desktop and figured out what I wanted to use, edited, resized and saved them all to a folder that I then uploaded to send out for printing.  It was so easy to just have the photos all ready to go when I went to put the kit together.  I even saved my notes so I knew EXACTLY where each photo was going to go.

Here's the video and photos of the first layout:
